Information for Members
Committee meetings are held on the third Monday of each month except December, which is the second Monday, at 6PM
Quarterly General Meetings are held prior to scheduled monthly meetings in February, May, August and November
The Annual General Meeting is held on the last Sunday of February at 9AM followed by breakfast and fellowship for all attending
The Sub-Branch holds an annual De-isolation/Reunion Dinner for members on the Saturday closest to Remembrance Day. The Dinner commences at 6.30PM, when the official party is led in by the Sub- Branch piper, Mr Stuart McIntyre. The cost is nominal to encourage as many Sub-Branch members as possible to attend.
Entertainment is provided within the Sub-Branch Club by way of performances by local musicians fortnightly (Friday night and Tuesday morning), as well as face-painting for children on Friday evenings. The Club broadcasts live sporting events on several screens within the Bar and Bistro areas.
Sub Branch History
Oakey RSL Sub-Branch is an incorporated body with an integral Club that attracts a large social population from both the surrounding area and visitors from near and far who enjoy the atmosphere and the delicious menu items available seven days a week.
The Sub-Branch was chartered on ANZAC Day 1934 and has been active ever since with current membership of about 250 Service and ex-Service personnel. The Club has an active membership of about 3000.
The Sub-Branch encourages and appreciates the involvement of the local community by their attendance at ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans’ Day and Remembrance Day.
Members of the Sub-Branch proudly interface with all schools in the local area, the local Men’s Shed, McLean Care CWA House and McDonald House Nursing Home as well as the Army Aviation Centre and local Australian Air Force Cadet Squadron all of whom support the RSL in its endeavours with the community.
